Basketball, probably above any other game, bestows a godlike position on its crucial players: In the world of basketball, if a player attracts recognition, it truly is with all the excitement of show biz, controversy and scandals abound! Dennis Johnson who started out his basketball career playing with the Supersonics is one example of such an unsung hero. Later on he gained a decent level of recognition playing for the Boston Celtics throughout the 80s. 'The A Train' was Artis Gilmore's nickname, he was really a force to be reckoned with in the game. His very early career had been spent with the Kentucky Colonels, though it was his period playing for the Bulls which carved his status. Apart from his final year, Gilmore scored double figures each year. He was a true powerhouse in the game.He retired his jersey officially in 1989. He now takes an active role in adding to the The city of jacksonville community.
